I appreciate you dropping in. I hope you are well and doing what you can to stay that way.

It's cold where I am. But despite how cold it sometimes feels, this world has so much to offer us. My heart is warmed by that knowledge and by you being here. Hopefully, by taking you with me down that shadowy staircase into the abyss, when you return you'll realize you can handle the real monsters out there when they come to visit.

So if you're looking for a diversion - something to take your mind off things for a few minutes - you should be able to find it here. After all, you made it this far; you must be in the right place. So take a look around, kick the tires, toot the horn. If you look hard enough, I'm sure you'll find something that strikes just the right chord or chills just the right bones.

Just remember, this is a safe space - or at least as safe a space can be that's filled with dark secrets and hairy things hiding in the closet. So please visit as often as you like. You're always welcome here. And I'll keep dropping new breadcrumbs as long as you keep following me.

G. Donald Black is an Amazon best-selling, award-winning author of modern horror short stories and novels. He lives with his wife and children in upstate Vermont.

Inspired by winning a short fiction writing contest, Black published his first full-length collection of short stories in 2017. Dark Matters: 17 Twisted & Disturbing Tales is shaped by classic vignette-centric television shows like The Twilight Zone and Night Gallery. Black's short stories read like compact thrillers, whose vivid characters and twisting plots lure readers like moths to a flame. His writing influences include Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and M. Night Shyamalan, among others.

Black is currently working on another collection of creepy short stories, a supernatural thriller novella entitled Scratch, and the cryptid murder mystery, Tracks.
